Partnerships

We have good partnerships with local sports clubs and county programmes who come in during the year to give 6-8 couching blocks to our pupils. These include include Athy Rugby Club and Kildare GAA/ Grangenolvin GAA.

During our Active Week in May 2024, we invited the Castledermot United soccer club and Grangevolvin G.F.C. to come to our school to give taster sessions and further build partnerships between the school and local clubs in our area. These sessions were enjoyed by both pupils and staff and we hope that they encourage more of our pupils to get involved in local clubs.

During the 2023/2024 school year, we started a new partnership with Athy Tennis Club. Gary, our tennis coach, took our Junior and Senior class for a four week block of tennis which both classes thoroughly enjoyed.

‘What Club are you In?’ Survey

Our most recent  survey took place on Thursday, March 6th 2025. Senior pupils (3rd-6th Class) conducted a ‘What Club Are You In?’ survey to find out about physical activity opportunities in the local community. We learned that the pupils in our senior class were involved in GAA, Karate and Horse Riding  in Grangenolvin, Athy and Portlaoise.

Active School Flag slogan

During January 2025, Scoil Naomh Treasa ran a poster competition to come up with a new Active School Slogan. The children came up with all sorts of catchy slogans to remind us to stay active. The winning slogan, chosen by our pupils and school staff, was ‘Be Active, Fun Fun, Be Active Everyone’. This can be viewed on our active school board.
