Amber Day

On 15th February 2019 we enjoyed a day of fun and focused on our mental health at our Amber Day. We all wore amber clothes and spoke about mental health strategies we have been learning such as mindfulness colouring and activities and the importance of talking about our feelings. We also remembered the importance of healthy eating for our mental health with Bradbury’s kindly providing soup and unusual fruits for us to sample.
The Senior Class were very busy taking time to chat about feelings, learning how to make friendship bracelets and practicing their performance of ‘Keep on Movin’ by Five. They also took time to set up the hall for the arrival of our parents with a wonderful stall for the bake sale in aid of Pieta House and some mindfulness activities for parents and children to enjoy together.
The Junior class spent time reading ‘Look who’s Here’ from the Mindfully Me series of books. They then discussed the importance of ALL feelings. Some of us were very surprised to hear that there are no ‘bad’ feelings and that all feelings have messages for us if we listen carefully.
A huge thank you to all parents who joined us for our bake sale later that day and also to those who couldn’t make it but sent in some lovely baked goods. We raised 153 euro for Pieta House and were delighted to send them the donation.
