The Daily Mile

January is the month for new starts and resolutions and we decided to make a healthy new start together when we joined the country-wide athletics initiative ‘The Daily Mile’. This means that we have made a promise to run/walk one mile every school day from January to April 2019.
For the first few days we found it quite difficult and weren’t sure we’d ever manage to run the whole mile. However, after just 3 weeks we can already see our fitness levels improving and our motivation to do more and run faster is increasing each day. We are also beginning to see the mental health benefits of being outside and active, the huge feeling of wellbeing we get each day as we walk back into the classroom having succeeded in running a mile is wonderful.
