After such a busy December we needed a calm and relaxed January and that’s just what we had. We started the year as we mean to go on by looking carefully at the world around us and how we can care for it a little better than we may have been. We had a fantastic December in school as always. Our Christmas jumper day for Crumlin Children’s hospital raised just over €170, we would like to thank everyone who donated to such a fantastic cause. Our Christmas play “Stable Story” was a huge success with lots of audience members congratulating us afterwards. We had a great time putting on the show and are always happy to hear that we entertained our.

As the weather got even colder we warmed ourselves up with Zumba lessons during November. Lisa from Zumba Carlow came out to us each Wednesday and brought a giant speaker, some noisy scarves and lots of fantastic songs and dance moves. We absolutely love getting fit and discovering the many different ways our bodies can move.

October was a busy month in Scoil Naomh Treasa. We elected our new student council, pictured above. These are very important people in our school community as they are the ones who speak up for us all, their great ideas along with all of our hard work will also hopefully help us to retain our Amber Flag this year. Ms Kelly joined us and will be teaching the senior classes while Ms Mann spends time at home with her gorgeous new baby. As we said in our Amber Fun post we took things very seriously when it came to rewarding ourselves after a year of hard work. Our school tour was no exception. June has been a very busy and fun month in Scoil Naomh Treasa. On the 4th of June we welcomed two visitors from Pieta House who checked out all the work we had done and presented us with our Amber Flag. We were absolutely delighted and so proud to be involved in earning Scoil Naomh Treasa’s first Flag. Nicola and Eoin from Pieta House were really interested in our Amber.

March madness indeed at Scoil Naomh Treasa. The Senior Class had a great time composing Scoil Naomh Treasa chants. They used percussion instruments and their knowledge of rhythm and beat in order to make catchy chants celebrating all that is great about our school. They were also very busy with their spring balances, learning all about gravity and forces and experimenting with the forces exerted on moving objects by different.

Every Thursday in the Junior Room we take part in literacy stations. We spend time reading books in our carefully chosen groups, playing games to improve our reading and rhyming and we even use glitter and sand trays to practice writing and spelling. Lots of the games and equipment we use is bought with the lunch money which is kindly donated by some parents every week. We were very excited.

Our Learning Support teacher, Ms Quirke-Bolt has always encouraged us to buy Fairtrade and become aware of the importance of supporting Fairtrade. As part of this she invited us to take part in the Fairtrade Carlow poster competition. All pupils spent time learning about Fairtrade products and how to recognise the Fairtrade logo and then took the time to design and colour Fairtrade posters. We were absolutely delighted to hear.

Ms Quirke-Bolt made pancake Tuesday a fantastic day here in Scoil Naomh Treasa. We all had the chance to spend time in the lunch hall making and topping our own pancakes. As part of Amber Day all pupils took part in a poster and slogan competition. The Senior class were asked to come up with a slogan promoting mental health which we could then adopt as our school’s Amber Code. As part of their entry they were asked to design a poster to accompany the slogan. There were some beautiful entries with Amy coming out the eventual winner with her entry.
